To qualify for the O-1 visa, you must:

• Evidence that meets at least 3 of the following (or a comparable):
  • National/international awards or prizes
  • Membership in exclusive professional associations
  • Published material about you in major media
  • Participation on a panel or as a judge of the work of others
  • Original contributions of major significance
  • Authorship of articles in professional journals or other major media
  • Leading roles or critical employment in reputable organizations
  • High salary or remuneration

• Evidence that meets at least 3 of the following (or a comparable):
  • Lead or starring participant in productions or events which have a distinguished reputation
  • Critical reviews or other published materials by or about the beneficiary in major newspapers, trade journals, magazines, or other publication
  • Lead, starring, or critical role for organizations and establishments that have a distinguished reputation
  • Record of major commercial or critically acclaimed successes
  • Significant recognition for achievements from organizations, critics, government agencies, or other recognized experts in the field in which the beneficiary is engaged
  • High Salary or remuneration

The companion visa, or O-2 visa, accompanies an O-1 performer and assists the O-1 in critical support activity with their skills and experience that are essential to the moral performance of the O-1 and cannot be easily substituted by a U.S. worker.

To qualify for the O-2 visa, the applicant must:

• Be an integral part of the O-1’s performance or activity.
• Possess specialized knowledge and experience that cannot be easily replicated.
• Have an established working relationship with the O-1 beneficiary (for most arts and performance fields).

• Detailed explanation of the support role and its necessity.
• Evidence of prior collaboration with the O-1 visa holder.
• Peer group or labor organization advisory opinion
• Filed in conjunction with or in relation to the O-1 visa petition.
